Question:
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
I would like to ask about the authenticity of the reports concerning the virtues of the following surahs of the Qur’an:
Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Every important matter that is not begun with ‘Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim’ is cut off.”
Surah al-Fatihah: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The best of the Qur’an is: ‘Alhamdulillahi Rabbil-‘Alamin’.” He also said: “The Opening of the Book is a cure for every disease.” And he ﷺ said: “The Opening of the Book was sent down from a treasure beneath the Throne.”
Surah al-Baqarah: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Everything has a pinnacle, and the pinnacle of the Qur’an is al-Baqarah. Whoever recites it in his house at night, no devil will enter it for three nights; and whoever recites it in his house during the day, no devil will enter it for three days.”
Ayat al-Kursi: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Surah al-Baqarah contains an ayah that is the chief of the verses of the Qur’an. It is not recited in a house in which there is a devil except that the devil leaves it: Ayat al-Kursi.”
The Closing Verses of Surah al-Baqarah: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Indeed, Allah concluded Surah al-Baqarah with two verses that He gave me from His treasure beneath the Throne. Learn them and teach them to your wives and children, for they are prayer, recitation, and supplication.”
Surah Ali ‘Imran: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever recites: ‘Allah bears witness that there is no deity except Him, and so do the angels and those endowed with knowledge, maintaining justice. There is no deity except Him, the Almighty, the All-Wise. Indeed, the religion with Allah is Islam,’ then says: ‘I too bear witness to what Allah has testified to, and I entrust this testimony to Allah as a deposit for me with Him,’ he will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and it will be said: ‘This servant of Mine made a covenant with Me, and I am most entitled to fulfill covenants. Admit My servant into Paradise.'”
Surah al-An’am: It contains verse 122: “Is one who was dead and We gave him life and made for him a light by which he walks among the people like one who is in darkness from which he can never emerge? Thus the deeds of the disbelievers have been made attractive to them.” This verse is said to contain the seven letters that are absent from Surah al-Fatihah. So ask Allah for goodness and seek refuge in Him from evil.

Surah an-Nur, verse 35: “Allahu nuru as-samawati…” So recite it and ask Allah for its light and blessing. (Surah an-Nur, verse 35)

Answer:
All praise is due to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family, and his Companions. To proceed:
The book ad-Du’a al-Mustajab is filled with weak and fabricated hadiths, as Shaykh Ibn Baz stated. Some students of knowledge have examined the book and traced its hadiths in a separate published work. We therefore advise you to consult a critical edition of this book in order to determine the grading of these narrations. You may also search for the evaluations of Shaykh al-Albani and other hadith scholars on dorar.net.
