Question:
In an effort to complete the Qur’an during the month of Ramadan, I recite quickly and sometimes do not understand the meanings of some verses. I also rarely refer to tafsir. Is this permissible?
I also suffer from gas that makes it difficult for me to remain in a state of wudu for more than an hour at most on many days. Do I have to renew my wudu in order to continue reciting the Qur’an, or may I read from a computer screen so that I do not touch the mushaf?
Thank you.

Answer:
All praise is due to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family, and his Companions. To proceed:
It is not permissible to recite so quickly that the speed compromises the proper pronunciation of the letters or alters their vowel markings. If the recitation does not reach that degree, then there is no harm in reading quickly. Nevertheless, reciting calmly and with tartil is better, as previously explained in another fatwa here:
Understanding everything that one recites is not a condition for receiving the reward of Qur’an recitation. Nevertheless, understanding the Qur’an is itself something required and an act of worship, and recitation accompanied by understanding carries greater reward.
Accordingly, if the meaning of some verses is unclear to the questioner, she should consult their tafsir whenever she has the opportunity.
In Sunan at-Tirmidhi, it is narrated from Ibn Mas’ud, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever recites one letter from the Book of Allah will have one good deed, and each good deed is multiplied tenfold. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter; rather, Alif is one letter, Lam is one letter, and Mim is one letter.”
For additional benefit, please also refer to another fatwa here:
That answers the first part of the question. As for the second part:
In this situation, if her wudu is invalidated and she wishes to continue reciting but finds it difficult to renew her wudu, then it is preferable for her to recite without touching the mushaf. She may recite from memory, from what she has memorized, or read from pages displayed on a computer screen. Reciting without touching the mushaf does not require wudu; having wudu for such recitation is recommended, not obligatory.
And Allah knows best.
