السؤال

Question:

إذا قرأ القرأن بدون فهم معانيه فهل يجزى به وهل هناك فرق بين القراءة من الجوال والمصحف؟

If someone recites the Qur’an without understanding its meanings, will he still be rewarded? And is there any difference between reading from the mushaf and reading from a mobile phone?

الإجابــة

Answer:

الحمد لله، والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله، وعلى آله وصحبه، أما بعد:

All praise is due to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family, and his Companions. To proceed:

فاعلم أن المسلم ينبغي له أن يتدبر معاني القرآن ويسأل عما يشكل عليه منها.

Know that a Muslim should reflect upon the meanings of the Qur’an and ask about anything in it that he finds difficult to understand.

فقد قال تعالى:

Allah Most High says:

كِتَابٌ أَنزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ لِّيَدَّبَّرُوا آيَاتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُوْلُوا الْأَلْبَابِ {ص:٢٩}.

“This is a blessed Book which We have revealed to you so that they may reflect upon its verses and so that people of understanding may take heed.” (Surah Sad, verse 29).

وقال تعالى:

And Allah also says:

أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْآنَ أَمْ عَلَى قُلُوبٍ أَقْفَالُهَا {محمد:٢٤}.

“Do they not then reflect upon the Qur’an, or are there locks upon their hearts?” (Surah Muhammad, verse 24).

ولكنه إذا قرأ آية دون فهم لمعناها فلا يحرمه ذلك من كسب ثواب تلاوتها لعموم حديث الترمذي:

However, if someone recites a verse without understanding its meaning, this does not deprive him of the reward for reciting it, based on the general meaning of the hadith narrated by at-Tirmidhi:

من قرأ حرفا من كتاب الله فله به حسنة والحسنة بعشر أمثالها.

“Whoever recites one letter from the Book of Allah will have one good deed, and each good deed is multiplied tenfold.” (Narrated by at-Tirmidhi)

ولا فرق في ذلك بين القراءة في المصحف وبين القراءة في الجوال.

There is no difference in this regard between reading from the mushaf and reading from a mobile phone.
