And a Witness from Among Their Own Testified (Part Two)

٨- لقد أخذت سيرة الرسول العربي [صلى الله عليه وسلم] بألباب أتباعه، وسمت شخصيته لديهم إلى أعلى علّيين، فآمنوا برسالته إيمانًا جعلهم يتقبلون ما أوحي به إليه وأفعاله كما سجّلتها السنة، مصدرًا للقانون، لا يقتصر على تنظيم حياة الجماعة الإسلامية وحدها، بل يرتب كذلك علاقات المسلمين الفاتحين برعاياهم غير المسلمين الذين كانوا في بداية الأمر يفوقونهم عددًا”( آرنولد توينبي Arnold Toynbee ).

8- “The life of the Arab Messenger ﷺ captivated the minds and hearts of his followers, and his personality rose in their estimation to the highest rank. They believed in his message with such conviction that they accepted what was revealed to him, together with his actions as recorded in the Sunnah, as a source of law. This law did not merely regulate the life of the Muslim community, but also governed the relations of the conquering Muslims with their non-Muslim subjects, who at the beginning greatly outnumbered them.” (Arnold Toynbee)

٩- إذا نحن نظرنا إلى محمد [صلى الله عليه وسلم] من خلال الأعمال التي حققها، فإن محمدًا الرجل والمعلم والخطيب ورجل الدولة والمجاهد يبدو لنا بكل وضوح واحدًا من أقدر الرجال في جميع أحقاب التاريخ (فيليب حتي)

9- “If we judge Muhammad ﷺ by the achievements he accomplished, then Muhammad the man, the teacher, the orator, the statesman, and the fighter appears to us quite clearly as one of the most capable men in all periods of history.” (Philip Hitti)

١٠- كان ينهى عن عدّه ملكًا.. ولقد نال السلطان والثراء والمجد، ولكنه لم يغتر بشيء من هذا كله فكان يفضل إسلام رجل على أعظم الغنائم (أميل درمنغم).

10- “He ﷺ forbade people from regarding him as a king. He attained authority, wealth, and glory, yet none of these things deceived him. He preferred the acceptance of Islam by a single man over the greatest spoils.” (Émile Dermenghem)

١١- “.. وأخيراً أخذت أدرس حياة النبي محمد [صلى الله عليه وسلم] فأيقنت أن من أعظم الآثام أن نتنكر لذلك الرجل الرباني الذي أقام مملكة لله بين أقوام كانوا من قبل متحاربين لا يحكمهم قانون، يعبدون الوثن، ويقترفون كل الأفعال المشينة، فغير طرق تفكيرهم، لا بل بدل عاداتهم وأخلاقهم، وجمعهم تحت راية واحدة وقانون واحد ودين واحد وثقافة واحدة وحضارة واحدة وحكومة واحدة، وأصبحت تلك الأمة، التي لم تنجب رجلاً عظيمًا واحدًا يستحق الذكر منذ عدة قرون، أصبحت تحت تأثيره وهديه تنجب ألوفًا من النفوس الكريمة التي انطلقت إلى أقصى أرجاء المعمورة تدعو إلى مبادئ الإسلام وأخلاقه ونظام الحياة الإسلامية وتعلم الناس أمور الدين الجديد”( الدكتور م. ج. دُرّانيDr. M. H. Durrani ).

11- “At last I began to study the life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and I became convinced that it would be among the gravest wrongs to deny the greatness of that God-centered man who established a realm devoted to God among peoples who had previously been at war with one another, lived without law, worshipped idols, and committed all manner of shameful acts. He transformed their ways of thinking; indeed, he changed their customs and morals, and united them under one banner, one law, one religion, one culture, one civilization, and one government. That nation, which for centuries had not produced a single great man worthy of mention, came under his influence and guidance to produce thousands of noble souls who journeyed to the farthest regions of the world, calling people to the principles of Islam, its morals, its way of life, and teaching them the teachings of the new religion.” (Dr. M. ١٢- إن الشخصية التي حملها محمد [صلى الله عليه وسلم] بين برديه كانت خارقة للعادة وكانت ذات أثر عظيم جدًا حتى إنها طبعت شريعته بطابع قوي جعل لها روح الإبداع وأعطاها صفة الشيء الجديد..”( اينين دينيه).

12- “The personality embodied by Muhammad ﷺ was extraordinary and possessed such tremendous influence that it stamped his law with a powerful character, giving it a spirit of originality and the quality of something genuinely new.” (Étienne Dinet)

١٣- إذا ما حكمنا على العظمة بما كان للعظيم من أثر في الناس قلنا إن محمدًا [صلى الله عليه وسلم] كان من أعظم عظماء التاريخ (ول ديورانت).

13- “If we judge greatness by the influence that a great person has exercised upon people, then we must say that Muhammad ﷺ was one of the greatest figures in history.” (Will Durant)

هذه هي الحقيقة التي أبصرتها عقول منصفة، فنطقت بالحق والعدل، بخلاف من أعمى الله بصره وبصيرته، فراح ينكر ضوء الشمس في رابعة النهار ليس دونها سحاب، وصلى الله وسلم على نبينا محمد وآله وصحبه.

According to the author, this is the truth perceived by fair-minded people, who spoke with truth and justice, in contrast to those whose sight and insight have been blinded and who deny the light of the sun at midday when no cloud obscures it. May Allah’s blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
