Question:

قرأت كثيرا عن المسيح الدجال ولكن لم أقرأ عن كيفية الوقاية منه أو ما نفعله من أذكار أو من قراءة قرآن أرجو الإفادة.

I have read much about Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal, but I have not found how to protect oneself from him, whether through supplications or reciting the Quran. Please provide clarification.

Answer:

الحمد لله، والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله، وعلى آله وصحبه، أما بعد:

All praise is due to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family, and his companions. To proceed:

فقد أرشد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أمته إلى ما يعصمها من فتنة الدجال، ومن جملة ذلك:

The Prophet shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam guided his ummah to ways that protect them from the trial of the Dajjal. Among them are:

– التمسك بالإسلام والتسلح بسلاح التوحيد، ومعرفة الله بأسمائه وصفاته التي لا يشاركه فيها أحد، فيُعلم أن الدجال بشر كغيره من البشر، وأن دعواه الألوهية دعوى كاذبة فلا يفتتن به.

• Holding firmly to Islam and arming oneself with tawheed, and knowing Allah by His Names and Attributes that no one shares with Him. Thus, it will be clear that the Dajjal is just a human being like others, and his claim of divinity is false, so one will not be deceived by him.

– التعوذ بالله من فتنته وخاصةً في الصلاة، ففي البخاري ومسلم من حديث عائشة رضي الله عنها قالت: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يدعو في الصلاة: اللهم إني أعوذ بك من عذاب القبر، وأعوذ بك من فتنة المسيح الدجال.

• Seeking refuge with Allah from his trial, especially in prayer. In Sahih Bukhari and Muslim, from Aisha radhiyallahu ‘anha, it is reported that the Messenger of Allah shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam used to supplicate in prayer:

اللهم إني أعوذ بك من عذاب القبر، وأعوذ بك من فتنة المسيح الدجال

(O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the punishment of the grave, and from the trial of Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal). (Hadith narrated by Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim)

– حفظ آيات من سورة الكهف، فقد روى مسلم من حديث أبي الدرداء أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: من حفظ عشر آيات من أول سورة الكهف عُصم من الدجال ورواية في آخرها.

• Memorizing verses from Surah Al-Kahf. In Sahih Muslim, from Abu Darda radhiyallahu ‘anhu, it is reported that the Prophet shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam said:

من حفظ عشر آيات من أول سورة الكهف عُصم من الدجال

(Whoever memorizes ten verses from the beginning of Surah Al-Kahf will be protected from the Dajjal). In another narration: from its ending verses. (Hadith narrated by Imam Muslim)

– الفرار من الدجال والابتعاد عنه، وذلك لما معه من الخوارق والشبهات التي يجريها الله على يديه. روى أحمد وصححه الألباني من حديث عمران بن حصين قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: من سمع بالدجال فلينأ عنه، فوالله إن الدجال ليأتيه وهو يحسب أنه مؤمن فيتبعه مما يبعث به من الشبهات.

• Keeping away from the Dajjal and avoiding him, because he will have extraordinary feats and doubts that Allah will allow to occur through his hands. In the narration of Ahmad, authenticated by Al-Albani, from Imran bin Husain radhiyallahu ‘anhu, the Messenger of Allah shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam said:

من سمع بالدجال فلينأ عنه، فوالله إن الدجال ليأتيه وهو يحسب أنه مؤمن فيتبعه مما يبعث به من الشبهات

(Whoever hears of the Dajjal, let him keep away from him. By Allah, a man will come to him thinking he is a believer, but he will follow him because of the doubts he stirs). (Hadith narrated by Imam Ahmad – authenticated by Al-Albani)
