Thamud said to their Prophet Salih: "We surely used to hope that you be in us a leader obeyed before this word which you said to us, do you forbid us that we worship the gods which our fathers used to worship? and indeed we are surely in a suspicious doubt from your call to us for the worship of Allah alone."
