Surah Al-Fatihah; this Surah was named Al-Fatihah because the Great Qur'an is opened with it, and it is called Al-Mathani; because it is recited in every rak'ah, and it has other names. I begin the recitation of the Qur'an with the name of Allah, seeking help from Him, (Allah) is a proper name for the Lord?"Blessed and Exalted be He?"the One worshipped in truth besides none other, and it is the most specific of the names of Allah the Exalted, and none other than Him, Glorified be He, is named by it. (Ar-Rahman) the One of general mercy whose mercy encompasses all creation, (Ar-Rahim) to the believers, and they are two names from His names, the Exalted, including the affirmation of the attribute of mercy for Allah the Exalted as befits His Majesty.
