(This verse is a repetition provided, translated with same standard as 219) The Muslims ask you-O Prophet-about the ruling of taking intoxicants by drinking, selling, and buying, and intoxicants (khamr) are everything that intoxicates and clouds the intellect and covers it, whether as a drink or food, and they ask you about the ruling of gambling (maysir)-and it is the taking of wealth or giving it through gambling which are the competitions in which there is an exchange from the two parties-, say to them: "In that are harms and many corruptions in the religion, the world, the intellects, and the wealth, and in them are benefits for people from the side of earning wealth and others, and their sin is bigger than their benefit; since they turn away from the mention of Allah and from prayer, and cause enmity and hatred between people, and destroy wealth." And this was a preparation for their prohibition. And they ask you about the amount they should spend of their wealth as a voluntary gift and charity, say to them: "Spend the amount that is beyond your need." With such a clear clarification Allah clarifies for you the verses and the rulings of the Sharia; so that you may reflect on what benefits you in the world and the Hereafter. And they ask you-O Prophet-about the orphans how they should act with them in their living and their wealth? Say to them: "Your reforming for them is better, so do the most beneficial for them always, and if you intermix with them in the rest of the affairs of living then they are your brothers in religion." And it is upon the brother to observe the interest of his brother. And Allah knows the one who wastes the wealth of orphans from the one eager for its reform. And had Allah willed, He could have narrowed and made it difficult for you by the prohibition of intermixing. Indeed, Allah is Almighty in His kingdom, All-Wise in His creation, His management, and His legislation.
