Those noble messengers, Allah preferred some of them over others, according to what Allah favored upon them: so among them is he whom Allah spoke to like Moses and Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon them, and in this is the affirmation of the attribute of speech for Allah Mighty and Sublime in the manner befitting His Majesty, and among them is he whom Allah raised high degrees like Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, by the generality of his message, and the sealing of prophethood with him, and the preference of his Ummah over all nations, and other than that. And Allah the Exalted gave Jesus son of Mary, peace be upon him, the clear dazzling miracles, such as the healing of the one born blind by the permission of Allah the Exalted, and the one with leprosy by the permission of Allah, and his reviving the dead by the permission of Allah, and He supported him with Gabriel, peace be upon him. And had Allah willed that those who came after these messengers not fight each other after the clear evidences had come to them they would not have fought each other, but the difference occurred between them: so among them is he who remained firm on his faith, and among them is he who persisted on his disbelief. And had Allah willed after the difference occurred between them, which necessitated the fighting, they would not have fought each other, but Allah grants success to whom He wills for His obedience and faith in Him, and forsakes whom He wills, so he disobeys Him and disbelieves in Him, for He does what He wills and chooses.
