Or have you seen-O Messenger-the like of the one who passed by a village whose houses had been destroyed, and it was empty on its roofs, so he said: "How will Allah give life to this village after its death?" So Allah caused him to die for a hundred years, then returned to him his soul, and said to him: "How much is the amount of time you stayed dead?" He said: "I stayed a day or part of a day," so He informed him that he stayed dead for a hundred years, and commanded him to look at his food and his drink, and how Allah preserved them both from change [during] this long period, and commanded him to look at his donkey how Allah revived it after it had been scattered bones? And He said to him: "And that We make you a sign for people, meaning: a manifest evidence of the power of Allah on resurrection after death," and commanded him to look at the bones how Allah raises some of them over others, and joins some of them with others, then clothes them after the joining with flesh, then returns in them the life? Then when that became clear to him with the eye's vision he acknowledged the greatness of Allah, and that He is over all things powerful, and he became a sign for people.
