And the two who fall into the immorality of adultery, then harm them both by hitting, abandonment, and rebuking, then if they both repented from what occurred from them and reformed by what they put forward of righteous deeds then overlook their harm. And it is benefited from this verse and the one before it that men if they did the immorality they are harmed, and women are confined and harmed, so the confinement's end is death, and the harm's end is to repentance and reform. And this was in the beginning of Islam, then it was abrogated by what Allah and His Messenger legislated, and it is the stoning for the muhsan (married) man and woman, and they are the two free, mature, sane ones who have had intercourse in a correct marriage, and the lashing of a hundred lashes, and exile for a year for other than them. Indeed, Allah was Ever-Accepting of Repentance toward His repentant servants, Most Merciful to them.
