O you who have believed in Allah and His Messenger and acted by His law, be ones standing with justice, performers of the testimony for the face of Allah the Exalted, even if it were upon yourselves, or upon your fathers and your mothers, or upon your relatives, whatever the state of the one testified against was rich or poor; for indeed Allah is more entitled to them both than you, and more knowing by what is in their both reform, so let not the desire and the bias carry you on the leaving of justice, and if you distorted the testimony with your tongues then you brought it upon other than its reality, or you turned away from it by the leaving of its performance or by its concealment, then indeed Allah the Exalted was All-Knowing of the details of your deeds, and He will recompense you by them.
