Say-O Messenger-: "Indeed I do not find in what Allah revealed to me anything forbidden upon who eats it from what you mention that it was forbidden of the livestock, except that it be dead without slaughter, or it be spilled blood, or it be the flesh of swine for it is filthy, or that which its slaughter was a departure from the obedience of Allah the Exalted; as if the slaughtered one had surely been mentioned upon it the name of other than Allah at the time of slaughter." Then whoever was forced to the eating from these forbidden things because of the intense hunger not being one requesting by his eating from them for pleasure, nor one exceeding the limit of necessity, then indeed Allah the Exalted is Forgiving for him, Most Merciful to him. And it was surely established-shortly after-by the Sunnah the prohibition of every possessor of fangs from the predators, and claws from the birds, and the domestic donkeys, and the dogs.
