2. INTRODUCTION

The support of Western, colonial states has been central to the Israeli regime’s ability to commit crimes and perpetuate the ongoing Nakba1 for over 77 years. States have long played a critical role in the advancement of the Zionist colonial project: from the 1917 Balfour Declaration and the British Mandate (1922–1948)2; to the 1947 United Nations Partition Plan3 and the subsequent international recognition of the Israeli regime; to the Oslo Accords,4 the promotion of “peace plans,”5 and the two-state solution. In tandem, they have ensured the Israeli regime’s impunity by providing it with immense political backing and obstructing accountability at international institutions, including vetoing United Nations Security Council resolutions,6 in violation of their responsibilities under international law. At the domestic level, governments have cracked down harshly on Palestine solidarity movements, including by: employing police
