And upon the mothers is the suckling of their children for a period of two complete years for whoever intended to complete the suckling, and it is obligatory upon the fathers to provide for the divorced nursing mothers their food and their clothing, in the manner approved by Sharia and custom; because Allah does not burden a soul except according to its capacity, and it is not lawful for the parents to make the newborn a means for mutual harm between them, and it is obligatory upon the heir at the death of the father the like of what was obligatory upon the father before his death of spending and clothing. Then if the two parents intended weaning of the newborn before the end of the two years then there is no blame upon them if they both agreed and consulted in that; to reach what contains the interest of the newborn. And if the two parents agreed on suckling the newborn from a nursing mother other than his mother then there is no blame upon them, if the father delivered to the mother her right, and delivered to the nursing mother her wage by what people recognize. And fear Allah in all your conditions, and know that Allah of what you do is All-Seeing, and He will recompense you for that.
