O you who have believed, it is not permissible for you that you make the women of your fathers among the total of their inheritance, you disposing of them by marriage from them, or the prevention for them, or marrying them to others, while they are hating all of that, and it is not permissible for you that you harm your wives while you are hating them; so that they concede some of what you gave them of dowry and its like, except that they commit a manifest matter like adultery, then for you at that time is their confinement until you take what you gave them. And let your companionship for your women be based on honoring and love, and the performance of what they have of rights. Then if you hated them for a reason of the worldly reasons then be patient; for perhaps you hate a matter of matters and there be in it much good.
