These letters and other disjointed letters at the beginnings of the Surahs contain an indication of the miraculous nature of the Qur'an; for the polytheists were challenged by it, yet they were unable to oppose it, and it is composed of these letters that make up the language of the Arabs. Thus, the inability of the Arabs to produce something like it?"despite them being the most eloquent of people?"demonstrated that the Qur'an is a revelation from Allah.
