السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته توجد عندنا جارة مسيحية، وتأتي لزيارتنا أحيانا وتزورنا أيضا في رمضان، سؤالي هو: هل يجوز لنا أن نقدم لها الضيافة مثل الشاي أو قهوة؟ بارك الله فيكم.

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. We have a Christian neighbor; she sometimes visits us, including during Ramadan. My question is: Is it permissible for us to offer her hospitality, such as tea or coffee? May Allah bless you.

Answer :

الحمد لله، والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله، وعلى آله وصحبه، أما بعد: فلا حرج في الإحسان إلى الكفار المسالمين، ويتأكد ذلك إذا كانوا جيرانا، كما سبق أن بينا في الفتوى الأخرى هنا .

Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family, and his companions. To proceed: There is no harm in being kind to peaceful non-Muslims, and this is even more emphasized if they are neighbors, as we have previously explained in another fatwa here:

وبهذا تعلم أخي مشروعية ضيافة هذه الجارة المسيحية، لكن عليك أن تعلم أنه لا يجوز لك الجلوس معها ولا تقديم القهوة لها، وإنما تتولى ذلك زوجتك أو أختك أو نحوهما من محارمك،

By this, you know—dear brother—the permissibility of hosting this Christian neighbor. However, you should know that it is not permissible for you to sit with her or serve her coffee directly; rather, your wife, sister, or other mahrams should handle that.

وذلك لأن هذه المرأة أجنبية عنك، ولأنها في الغالب ربما تكون غير محجبة. أما تقديم الشاي أو غيره من المفطرات في نهار رمضان فإنه لا يجوز، كما سبق أن ذكرنا في الفتوى الأخرى هنا

This is because this woman is a stranger (ajnabiyah) to you, and because she likely may not be wearing a hijab. As for serving tea or anything else that breaks the fast during the day in Ramadan, it is indeed not allowed, as we have mentioned previously in another fatwa here:
