The article Seven Whom Allah Will Shade Under His Shade is included in the Hadith Explanation Category

Allah Ta’ala said regarding this and its like: “But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination, then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge” [An-Nazi’at: 40-41].

And from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) who said: The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

While three men were walking, they were caught in the rain and took refuge in a cave in a mountain. Then a rock fell from the mountain over the mouth of their cave and blocked them in. Some of them said to others: “Look for righteous deeds you have done for Allah and supplicate to Allah Ta’ala by them, perhaps He will relieve you.” One of them said: “O Allah, I had a cousin whom I loved as passionately as men love women. I sought her for herself but she refused until I brought her a hundred dinars. I toiled until I gathered a hundred dinars and brought them to her. When I sat between her legs, she said: ‘O servant of Allah, fear Allah and do not break the seal except by its right.’ So I stood up from her. If You know that I did that seeking Your Face, then grant us an opening from this,” so it was opened for them… 1

The sixth: A man who gives charity—and how many are the givers of charity, and how great is their reward with Allah—but what distinguishes this giver and earned him this great reward (Allah shading him) is his sincerity in his charity. His sincerity reached such a level that he almost hid it from himself if he could. Allah has praised those who give charity, saying:

“If you disclose your charitable expenditures, they are good” [Al-Baqarah: 271]

Then He specified those who conceal it, saying:

“But if you conceal them and give them to the poor, it is better for you, and He will remove from you some of your misdeeds. And Allah is [fully] Aware of what you do” [Al-Baqarah: 271].

And from Abdullah bin Ja’far (may Allah be pleased with them both), he said: The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

Secret charity extinguishes the wrath of the Lord 2

As for the seventh: A man whose heart is filled with the love of Allah, fear of Him, and glorification of Him, so he remembers Allah in a secluded place where none sees him but He. He remembers His greatness, His favor upon him, and His mercy, and so his eyes overflow with tears out of longing for Him. Regarding this and its like, Allah Tabaraka wa Ta’ala says:

“The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely” [Al-Anfal: 2].

And Allah Ta’ala said:

“And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have recognized of the truth. They say, ‘Our Lord, we have believed, so register us among the witnesses'” [Al-Ma’idah: 83].

And from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) who said: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

Two eyes shall not be touched by the Fire: an eye that cried out of fear of Allah and an eye that spent the night on guard in the way of Allah 3

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم used to weep much out of fear of Allah, as did the righteous people before and after him, and Allah has threatened those with hardened hearts with the severest warning, saying:

“So woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of Allah. Those are in manifest error” [Az-Zumar: 22].

And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and all his companions.
