أريد معرفة أفضل وقت لتلاوة القرآن كل ليلة التي حثنا عليها الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم مثل السجدة والملك…

I want to know the best time to recite the Quran every night, as recommended by the Prophet ﷺ, such as Surah As-Sajdah and Al-Mulk.

كنت أقرأ هده السور مباشرة عند دخولي البيت بعد صلاة العشاء و لكن عندما سألت إمام المسجد الدي أصلى فيه قال إنه أفضل وقت هو مباشرة قبل النوم يعني أتلو ما علي وأنام بعد ذلك جربت هذا الوقت ولكنه لم يترك لي المجال لممارسة هوايتي في الوقت الحالي أنا بدون شغل قريبا سأبدأ إن شاء الله في الفترة الصباحية أقضي فيها أشغالي وأما المساء لا مجال لي أبدا خاصة أني أصلي في المسجد والوقت بين الصلوات غير كاف

I used to recite these chapters immediately after entering the house following the ‘Isha prayer. However, when I asked the imam of the mosque where I pray, he said the best time is directly before sleeping—recite what is necessary and then sleep. I tried this time, but it left no room for my hobbies. I am currently unemployed, but in shaa Allah I will start working soon in the mornings. My evenings are completely occupied, especially since I pray in the mosque, and the time between prayers is not enough.

الوقت الذي كنت أجده مناسبا هو بعد صلاة العشاء و كما قلت كنت أتلو مباشرة بعد صلاة العشاء والوقت المتبقي أقضيه في هوايتي أحب كثيرا مشاهدة أفلام الرعب و الخيال و المطالعة داخل فراشي قبل النوم والجلوس مع والدتي باختصار فعل ما أحب بعد أداء وجباتي الدينية ولا أقصد أبدا أني أفضل الدنيا على الآخرة بل بالعكس، الآن لا أستطيع فعل أي شيء دون أن أفكر في أنه علي أن أنهض لتلاوة القرآن الكريم حتى أنه لا أتعشي براحتي،

The time I found most suitable was after the ‘Isha prayer. As I mentioned, I would recite immediately after the prayer, then use the remaining time for my hobbies. I enjoy watching horror and fantasy films, reading in bed before sleep, and sitting with my mother. In short, I do what I love after fulfilling my religious duties. I never mean to prioritize the world over the Hereafter—quite the opposite. Now I can’t do anything without thinking I have to get up to recite the Quran, and I can’t even enjoy my dinner peacefully.

فما هو أفضل وقت لتلاوة هذه السور، وهل تحدث الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم عن هذا الوقت؟

So, what is the best time to recite these chapters? Did the Prophet ﷺ speak about this specific time?

Answer:

الحمد لله، والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله، وعلى آله وصحبه، أما بعد:

All praise is due to Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah, his family, and companions. To proceed:

فقد رغب الرسول الكريم صلى الله عليه وسلم في قراءة القرآن وبين عظم أجر من يقرؤه، وإن له بكل حرف حسنة، ورغب كذلك في قراءة بعض الآيات وبعض السور لفضلها ومن ذلك سورة تبارك، فقد روى الترمذي عن أبي هريرة عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال:

The Noble Prophet ﷺ encouraged the recitation of the Quran and explained the great reward for those who recite it: one reward for each letter. He also recommended the recitation of certain verses and chapters due to their virtues—among them is Surah Tabarak (Al-Mulk). At-Tirmidhi narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet ﷺ said:

إن سورة من القرآن ثلاثون آية شفعت لرجل حتى غفر له وهي سورة تبارك الذي بيده الملك. قال أبو عيسى، هذا حديث حسن ورواه أبو داود وغيره.

“A chapter of the Quran consisting of thirty verses interceded for a man until he was forgiven—it is Surah Tabarak, the one in whose hand is the dominion.” Abu ‘Isa said: This is a hasan hadith, and it was also narrated by Abu Dawud and others.

ومن ما ورد في فضلها مع سورة السجدة ما رواه أحمد والترمذي عن جابر رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كان لا ينام حتى يقرأ (الم تنزيل) و(تبارك الذي بيده الملك) وهو حديث صحيح صححه غير واحد من أئمة أهل العلم

Among the virtues mentioned alongside Surah As-Sajdah is what has been narrated by Ahmad and At-Tirmidhi from Jabir رضي الله عنه: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not sleep until he recited ‘Alif Lam Meem Tanzil’ (As-Sajdah) and ‘Tabarak Alladhi Biyadihi Al-Mulk’. This is a sahih hadith confirmed by several scholars of hadith.

ولذلك يستحب قراءتهما قبل النوم كل ليلة لفعله صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Therefore, it is recommended to recite these two chapters every night before sleep, following the practice of the Prophet ﷺ.

أما عن الليلة في الإسلام فإن الليلة تبدأ بغروب الشمس، وتكون الليلة تابعة لليوم الذي بعدها فيقال مثلاً ليلة الجمعة إذا غربت شمس يوم الخميس وتستمر الليلة إلى طلوع الفجر كما قال تعالى عن ليلة القدر:

As for when the night begins in Islam—it starts at sunset and is considered part of the following day. For example, “the night of Friday” begins after the sun sets on Thursday. The night continues until the break of dawn, as Allah said regarding the Night of Decree (Lailatul Qadr):

سَلامٌ هِيَ حَتَّى مَطْلَعِ الْفَجْرِ (القدر:٥).

“Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.” (Surah Al-Qadr: 5).

وأخيراً نذكرك أخي في الله أن الإنسان مسؤول عن عمره فيما أفناه، وعن شبابه فيما أبلاه. وهذه الأفلام مضيعة للأوقات، فضلاً عن أنها تكون مشتملة على أمور محرمة، كصور النساء المتبرجات وكشف العورات وأصوات العزف والموسيقى، فننصحك أخي بتجنب مشاهدة هذه الأفلام التي تنقص الإيمان وتشغل القلب لما يكون فيها مما يسخط الرب جل وعلا.

Finally, dear brother in faith, we remind you that a person is accountable for how he spent his life and how he used his youth. Such movies are a waste of time, and in addition, they often include forbidden content such as images of unveiled women, exposure of private parts, and music and instruments. We advise you to avoid such films, as they weaken faith and occupy the heart with things that incur the wrath of the Almighty Allah.
