Islam is Faith and Action

الإسلام هو دين الله الذى أوحاه إلى محمد صلوات الله وسلامه عليه، وهو إيمان وعمل

Islam is the religion revealed by Allah to Muhammad, peace be upon him. And the essence of Islam is Faith and Action.

والإيمان يمثل العقيدة، والأصول التى تقوم عليها شرائع الإسلام، وعنها تنبثق فروعه.

Faith reflects the creed and principles that form the foundation of Islamic law. And from these fundamentals emerge its branches.

والعمل يمثل الشريعة، والفروع التى تعتبر للإيمان والعقيدة.

Action reflects the Shariah and its branches, which are considered as the implementation of faith and creed.

والإيمان والعمل، أو العقيدة والشريعة كلاهما مرتبط بالآخر ارتباط الثمار بالأشجار، أو ارتباط المسبَّبات بالأسباب، والنتائج بالمقدمات.

Faith and action, or creed and Shariah, are interrelated like fruits with their trees, or cause and effect, and result with its origin.

ومن أجل هذا الترابط الوثيق يأتى العمل مقترنًا بالإيمان فى أكثر آيات القرآن الكريم.

“Due to this close relationship, Action is often paired with Faith in many noble verses of the Quran.”

وَبَشِّرِ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ أَنَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ

And give good tidings to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow (Surah al Baqarah verse 25)

مَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحاً مِنْ ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنْثَى وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَلَنُحْيِيَنَّهُ حَيَاةً طَيِّبَةً وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْرَهُمْ بِأَحْسَنِ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ 

Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer – We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do. (Surah an Nahl verse 97)

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ سَيَجْعَلُ لَهُمُ الرَّحْمَنُ وُدّاً

Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds – the Most Merciful will appoint for them affection. (Surah Maryam verse 96)
